A visitor at home [Tagging Hotaru]
Sep. 8th, 2015 02:35 pmAfter the epic boss battle in the Nexus, Hughes had earned a few well-deserved days off from his duties at Central HQ. True, it was largely due to the number of injuries he'd sustained during said battle, but he wasn't one to complain. A few days of R&R with his family would be nice, especially with the added bonus of a guest.
Hughes had managed to find someone in the Nexus who would take a trade of some of his silver Amestrian cenz and all of the brass from the decommissioned uniform he wore while fighting demons in exchange for a new outfit for Hotaru. They'd found a lovely violet skirt and matching sweater and a pastel purple shirt that went nicely with the set. Hotaru had been ecstatic about the update in wardrobe and Hughes had been only too happy to provide. Dad Mode was active with this one and he was definitely in his happy place.
When the two had arrived in Amestris, after a very tight squeeze in the phone booth portal to get there, he opened his arms wide to the large city of Central, which spread out in every direction around them. The sun was high in the blue sky and the smell of Autumn tinged the warm air. With the military HQ behind him, Hughes - who was not wearing his military uniform for once - turned to Hotaru with a large smile on his face.
"Welcome to Amestris, specifically, the city of Central. Would you care for a tour?"

Aug. 15th, 2015 06:54 pmCHARACTER NAME: Maes Hughes
CHARACTER SERIES: Full Metal Alchemist/FMA: Brotherhood. Setting him in the universe of shortly after the incident at Lab 5 in the manga/FMA: Brotherhood at the start of his time in the Nexus. (note: I'm saying he missed out on his own assassination due to being in the Nexus)
[OOC]
This is the permissions list for OOC (out of character) activity.
Backtagging: Sure!
Threadhopping: You bet!
Fourthwalling: In the appropriate places, yes, but not in active IC threads.
Offensive subjects: Violence is okay to a certain degree, but I'd rather it not get too graphic (conversations can be had to see how far we can push the limits, though!). Horror isn't my thing, so none of that. Not going to be any smut going on with this character either, so don't ask.
[IC]
This is the permissions list for IC (in-character) activity.
Hugging this character: Sure, if there's friendship previously established.
Kissing this character: As a friendly gesture or to forward a previously established advance by a character that won't be reciprocated, yes. Otherwise, no.
Flirting with this character: You bet - just don't expect anything in return (he's a married man, after all!).
Fighting with this character: Go for it. Let's chat so we can figure out the details though, okay? Just keep the violence thing in mind.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Should be discussed before it takes place, but definitely willing to work out something.
Killing this character: No.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Again, discuss first and then let's play.
Warnings:
- If you know the character, you know the big one: Hughes is married and is very faithful to his wife and his family. He's not going to chase after anyone or lead anyone on purposefully.
- Hughes isn't going to understand a lot of the advanced science and technology floating around the Nexus, but will eventually pick it up if someone's willing to teach him.
-If you want to play with Hughes and/or have an idea you think might be fun, please let me know! I'd love to join in on things and won't know if you want him involved unless you speak up! =]
I'm really, really excited to have joined up with this comm with this character. So, let's play!

There was no good way of telling how long Hughes had been in the Nexus at this point. He'd be trying to catch a few z's on a couch next to his phone booth home when the sky would go from the dark of Midnight to sunset. He'd read and heard others talking about the strange goings on of the Nexus as if it had a mind of its own. Honestly? Hughes was pretty sure they were right.
He'd spent most of his time here trying to get his phone booth to open up. Any method of entrance that he could think of, he'd tried - tugging at the door in various manners, trying to pry it open, scratching at the glass with his push knives, attempting to break one of the windows to open it from the inside. Hell, he'd even looked for a lock to try and pick. The only thing he hadn't tried was firing at it with his standard issue firearm, which he had only a single clip for on his person.
All of it had been for nothing. With each passing hour, he was more and more sure he wasn't going home, that all of the threads he was trying to tie together would scatter to the winds. It only made him more determined to prove himself wrong, but the constant defeat hurt. Now, however, he had help. Now he had access to a whole new set of options that someone as normal as him could never dream of doing on his own. This was his chance, and he wasn't about to blow it.
Hughes looked over at Katsuya, who had followed him over from the large table of sweets the officer had provided to residents of the Nexus.
"So, where do we start?"
